Our History

Erling Rasmussen came from Denmark to Africa as a missionary and eventually set up All Africa Bible College in Hillcrest.

SBCI grew out of All Africa Bible College, who over a period of 20 years, from 1982, had received students from many different African countries. 

During this time, they had helped some former students start their own Bible schools. When they returned to their homes, they were met with a call from other leaders, who had no possibility of going away to Bible College; they said: “You have now received your Bible College Diploma, so will you please train us.” 

The students called All Africa Bible College for help, and in response, they developed a curriculum of study books plus an examination for each subject. They went out with these manuals to help church leaders all over Africa to start their own Bible Schools under the banner of Satellite Bible College International (SBCI.) 

Each leader that was trained started up an independent Bible school, completely run by them locally. 

They remained linked to SBCI through the material and whatever support SBCI staff could give them. 

The SBCI system spread like a bushfire over large parts of Africa and soon beyond former students to all kinds of churches and missions.

Other mission organizations have also taken the SBCI material to different parts of the world.
